Graduation #2

today was a LONG day! we went into the city w/ my man EARLY this morning (ie. 6:30am). our jewel and i went to the national aquarium and the national museum of american history while we waited for my man to put in a 1/2 day's work. then we headed over to the campus. the shrine, where the ceremony took place, was so crowded! we ended up sitting behind a wall :(

but it's over. sigh sigh sigh. so relieved.

apparently i don't speak english anymore

my man and i spent an unusual evening of listening to random stuff on youtube and itunes.
one of the songs we were listening to was young jeezy's put for my city. did you know they have a comments section down below? did you know that people do not use english? or maybe i don't speak english? first, i had to literally read each letter to figure out what they were writing. but then, i couldn't tell if it was a typo, ebonics, or text language.... so my man looked over my shoulder and the two of us sat there, me "reading" out loud and him translating.... after a while, i just had to switch over to something a little more my pace.

the end of ANOTHER era

my man had his LAST final this past wednesday. four years of little sleep, lots of espresso, late night wendy's, and driving home at 10:30pm to find that there is traffic on the highway because of road work... has come to an end. praises, praises, praises!!

he's got two weeks of reprieve before bar review starts. we'll enjoy the short break before the little sleep, lots of espresso, late night wendy's, and driving home at 10:30pm to find that there is traffic on the highway because of road work start all over again.

but for now, graduation is right around the corner and i'm just glad that we made it this far.

the shack part 2

did you know that it's not real? it's a fictitious book, based loosely on the author's life. now, having said that - i have to admit that i feel a bit cheated. why? because in the foreword, the last paragraph, it gives the reader the impression that it happened.
hum.... while i think that there is still some value to the book - ie. the whole idea of God's love for us and His grace being supreme - i have to say, that this "small" fact does change things for me.

first in a VERY long time

i ate an entire chocolate bar (not a sample size - i mean a legitimate, 16oz full size deal) all by myself today. ok, seriously, i can't even remember the last time i did this - maybe when i was pregnant? maybe in high school???? but i just can't believe it did it?! wow! apparently, even i can go off the deep end. ha ha ha :)

"Shack" by William Young

i just finished it today and i'm not sure what to say. my man said he would try to read it so that we could discuss it together. i mean, if it's really true that this guy had an encounter with the Trinity, and if the events really did happen - not an allegory, or a dream, but the Trinity really did literally "hang out" with Mack, then well - it's pretty mind blowing. and then it raises a whole bunch of questions - like, is that what heaven is like? is that how we're all going to see the Trinity - or was it just a shade of their characters as it was meant to be revealed to Mack/ the main character? ... etc.

but it has gotten me thinking about my relationship with God. and what God must see when he looks upon His creation. it's made me think of others differently.

anyways - it's an interesting read that i would recommend. but i'm waiting on my man to help me flush out my thoughts on this one.

fellowship

over the weekend, we spent the morning at a friend's house worshipping God with hymns and fellowship. was so nice to slow down for a few hours from our hectic lives and just enjoy each others' company and the blessings of our Father. wish we did it more often.
