oval kitchen tables

what do you do when you have a very 80's style country kitchen table that is not at all your personal style? paint it, of course!
while we stayed with my parents awhile ago, i gave them my pottery barn kitchen table set and took their kitchen table set (that by the way is at least 20 years old!!). i should get the daughter of the year award! (just kidding!)

anyways, i've started to collect pictures of tables to give me some idea of what i'm going to do with said table.

Au revoir, my dear friend

I'm sorry to report that as of September 2009, Southern Accents will be no more. It has had a good 32-year-run. It has brought me joy as i've perused the pages and drove me to tears when i looked up the prices. it's bought me inspiration and sheer glee. my friendship with you, i admit has been fickle depending on the cost of the relationship over the last 15 years. but the moments we'd had together have been wonderful! so long my dear friend. may you rest in peace.

I hear ya

so everyone has said black... not ONE person has encouraged the white paint... so black it is. do you know what this means? it means, it's the start of a hunt for bone white china for decor :)
it's always something, huh?

Decorating delimma

I have three pieces of furniture that i want to paint:
kitchen table and chairs
china cabinet
console

the question is - do i want to paint it white or black?
blacks seems more versatile, more durable against all the kids' oops, and consistent with what i already have.
BUT, i'm really getting into the new looks of whites.
check these out:
1. this one i got from cote de texas' blog.
i really like the black curtain rods accenting against the dominant white

2. i really like the various whites/ off whites in this picture too.

3. From Brillian Asylum's site, comes this inspirational picture
i really like the clean lines and it's the look i'm going for in the dining room.

4. this is more of a grayish white with the black accents.

totally random, but while surfing Brilliant Asylum's blog, i saw this and LOVE the flower boxes.
